  • Jonathan J. Stone, MD, MSE

    President & Founder

    Dr. Stone is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology and Biomedical Engineering, and the Director of the Simulation Innovation Laboratory at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. He has published over 30 articles, received 9 awards, received a Master's in Biomedical Engineering, and has been granted 4 patents. Dr. Stone's experience with simulation began during his residency. After winning 1st place for video abstracts of his lifelike simulations 3 years in a row (2015-2017) at the annual AUA national meeting, he founded a company to develop and manufacture these surgical phantoms. Dr. Stone earned his M.D. from the University of Buffalo, completed his residency program at the University of Rochester and then continued his education to complete a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in Peripheral Nerve Surgery.

    Dr. Wilson has handled all daily operations in addition to long-term business planning and execution for the first 4 years of VIOMERSE’s expansion. Dr. Wilson earned his B.S. from Penn State University and then went on to earn his Ph.D. in Pathology from the University of Rochester in 2015 with a focus on translational research. Beginning in late 2016, Dr. Wilson has focused his career on biotechnology startups and its transfer from the research lab to the marketplace to directly benefit patients.

  • Steven Griffith

    Steven H. Griffith, MS

    Chief Technology Officer

    Steven Griffith has been designing safety critical electronic systems for the medical and rail industries since 1993. In the early 2000's, Mr. Griffith led software and hardware engineering teams which developed the world's first "ground up" wireless, smart, large volume infusion pump, and to date, hundreds of thousands of these devices have been deployed in the US and Canada. Prior to 1993, Mr. Griffith headed a group of 20 embedded software and hardware engineers at Hughes Training, Link Flight Simulation Division and worked on many notable military and commercial aircraft programs. Mr. Griffith was nominated as one of four candidates for the 2011 "Engineer of the Year" award by the Rochester Engineering Society and was honored in April 2012 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Mr. Griffith was a member of the inaugural Industrial Advisory Board for the Biomedical Engineering Program at RIT, holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University.

    Dr. Stone is an internationally renowned prostate cancer specialist, academician, innovator and entrepreneur. In 1995, he created the real-time 3D Brachytherapy System, PROSEED, which was acquired by CR Bard in 1998. Dr. Stone served as VP and Medical Director at Bard which under his direction trained over 200 centers in the U.S. and Europe. In 2005, Dr. Stone and his partners started Prologics, a radiation therapy services company. This company was successfully sold to Integrated Oncology Network in 2011. In 2012 he co-founded 3DBiopsy, Inc., which developed innovative biopsy and pathology technology. Named as one of the "Leading Physicians of the World", Dr. Stone is a Professor of Urology and Radiation Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai NYC. Dr. Stone earned his M.D. from the University of Maryland and attended fellowships in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and biomedical endocrinology at Rockefeller University. He joined VIOMERSE in 2021.

  • Jeff Sherman

    Jeff brings over 25 years of biotechnology and pharmaceutical experience to VIOMERSE, with commercial roles in sales leadership, strategic marketing, marketplace development, and project management from Schering Plough (Merck), Bristol Myers Squibb, Berlex Oncology (Bayer Oncology) and Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Jeff has participated in the launch of over 20 products over the course of his career and is responsible for driving all commercialization efforts related to the VIOMERSE portfolio of products & technology. Jeff received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Rhode Island, and resides in the NYC area.

    Description goes hereMr. Katz has served as the President of Steven Katz & Associates, Inc., a life sciences/healthcare and technology-based management consulting firm, focusing on strategic planning, products and services, licensing/strategic alliances and raising capital, since 1982. He has lead 13 corporate turnaround engagements as a Chief Executive Officer or Chief Operating Officer, and has served on 15 public boards and nine private boards, including NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX, and Bulletin Board companies. From 1983 to 1984, Mr. Katz served as Co-Founder and Executive Vice-President of S.K.Y. Polymers, Inc., a bio-materials company. From 1981 to 1982, he served as Vice President and General Manager of a non-banking business unit of Citicorp (now Citigroup (NYSE: C)). From 1976 to 1980, Mr. Katz held various senior management positions at National Patent Development Corporation, a healthcare holding company, including serving as President of three subsidiaries. Earlier in his career, he worked at Revlon, Inc., a cosmetics company, and Price Waterhouse & Co. (now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP). Mr. Katz has also advised many large non-profit healthcare entities and their boards. He received a B.B.A. in Accounting from the City College of New York in 1969.

    For the past 27 years, Mr. Chaiken has served as a highly-experienced financial executive working with rapidly growing small and mid-sized public and private companies. He has been involved in developing infrastructure, raising capital, and the execution of strategic plans to achieve significant growth and profitability. Other responsibilities included financial reporting, budgeting, and financial modeling. Prior positions in advertising, entertainment, and media include: LinkShare Corporation (the predecessor to Rakuten); Wilhemina International, Inc.; and Creative Group, Inc. Mr. Chaiken is a Certified Public Accountant and received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

    While Laura began her career working in the hotel industry, after earning her M.B.A. degree from Baruch College, she decided to pivot towards the medical start-up industry. Laura's latest role was VP of Operations at 3DBiopsy, a medical device start-up that is working to manufacture an innovative prostate biopsy tool. At 3DBiopsy, she created and managed their Hubspot database of over 3,000 contacts, ran marketing campaigns, and planned and ran trade shows and company sponsored events. Laura holds a B.S.B.A from the University of Denver.

  • Jos J. Groeskamp

    VP Sales & Marketing for Europe, Middle East & Africa

    Jos is the CEO and founder of JJ-MEDTECH based out of Enschede, Netherlands. He has over 30 years of experience working in Sales, Marketing, and Business Development. His previous roles have been in the urology, gynecology, cardiology and radiology specialties at Hospital Medisch Spectrum Twente, BARD, ONCURA, GALIL Medical, and QLRAD International. In 2015, Jos decided to start his own company, JJ-MEDTECH, to use his years of experience and provide consultancy and sales services to local and multinational companies. Jos is a multilingual (German, English and Dutch) entrepreneur and medical device developer.
